Gridz (Photoshop CC2014+)

Gridz is a plugin for artists and illustrators using photoshop CC 2014 and above. It is designed to solve the problem of rotations in perspective drawing. I needed to accurately draw objects in any orientation without being restricted by a static grid and thought up this utility to do just that. Objects typically aren't all neatly aligned with an all-mighty perspective grid. Instead they face all sorts of directions all the time. This plugin will create a perspective grid for you. But more importantly, it will allow you to rotate the grid itself within the 3D space so that you can draw in all the objects you need in their proper orientation. You won't have to do guesswork, you won't have to eye-estimate anything. You won't have to open a cumbersome 3D software to do your perspective mockups either. Yet, you will get similar levels of freedom and precision. And, you can also use the plugin to match existing perspectives from photographs and move up from there. My hope is that this tool can reveal itself useful to some of you, for it is just a tool and can't do much artistry on its own.

Features

The grid can quickly be rotated by grabbing the existing vanishing points. Trigger that function using the panel's button or a customizable shortcut.

Adjust the grid density in the panel's flyout menu.

Hide or reveal the grid using the toggle button or a customizable shortcut.

Create fixed copies of the grid on a new layer using the Print button or a customizable shortcut.

Using those tools, draw objects in perspective in any orientation. You are no longer restrained by a static perspective grid telling you how to align your subjects.
